Landmark Festival 2015

By Sissy Davis

Recently, I attended the Landmark Music Festival in Washington DC. Throughout the two day event, I had the chance to hear many artists play as well as enjoy some tasty cuisine. The food selection was phenomenal ranging from seafood to “sushiritos” to the classic American Shake Shack burgers. The festival itself took place right by the tidal basin with a beautiful view of the monuments. The atmosphere was very laid back yet exciting as people waited for their favorite acts such as Drake, Miguel, Alt-J, and The Strokes. I thought it was great that such an event was happening in DC, and how the proceeds went to the National Park Service.

I went with a group of friends excepting a large adult crowd considering the bands preforming and the ticket price, but I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of teenagers there. The culture at the festival was very youthful, filled with fun fashion, great, upbeat music, and people of all ages who were ecstatic to be there. The National Mall and Washington DC should continue to do things such as Landmark Music Festival because it brings great people, music, and fun to DC all for a great cause!
